Skopje, 24 August 2022 (MIA) - North Macedonia's Council of Public Prosecutors at Wednesday's session unanimously decided to dismiss the prosecutor Vilma Ruskovska's appeal against her suspension calling it groundless. By dismissing the appeal, the Council reaffirms the August 16 decision of the Chief Public Prosecutor, Ljubomir Joveski, said Antonio Jolevski, President of the Council of Public Prosecutors. Ruskovska remains suspended as public prosecutor for organized crime. The Council's session was closed for the public so as to protect the integrity of all public prosecutors and the cases. The Council of Public Prosecutors, although comprised of 11 members, functions with eight after two prosecutors retired and new ones are yet to be elected. Prosecutor Ljubomir Joveski didn't attend the session due to conflict of interests. Ruskovska filed the appeal last week, claiming her suspension was ”a suspension of the law and suspension of justice.” Chief Public Prosecutor Ljubomir Joveski decided to remove Ruskovska from her post as head of the Public Prosecution for Organized Crime and Corruption while proceedings are ongoing in relation to a complaint filed against her by recently resigned Finance Police director Arafat Muaremi. Muaremi had filed the complaint on Aug. 8, regarding a search of the Financial Police that Ruskovska conducted together with other prosecutors on July 18 as part of a pre-trial investigation into the institution.
