Council adopts draft concept on digital transformation of society

Skopje, 15 February 2023 (MIA) - The National Council for Digital Transformation of Society, chaired by Deputy PM for good governance policies Slavica Grkovska, adopted a draft concept on digital transformation of society at its second session held Wednesday.

The draft concept on digital transformation of society rests on four principles - the rule of law, social cohesion and public-private partnership, free access to public information, reliable sources of data, as well as the 'once-only' principle, according to which citizens and businesses supply data only once to a public administration, Grkovska's office said in a press release.  The discussion also focused on the electronic ID card and the 'digital is standard' practice, whereby digital version takes on more importance than print version. Deputy PM Grkovska stressed that these principles and the concept are open for discussion, given that this is a social process that sets the basis of the digital transformation of society.

In addition, an AI-based investment digital assistant ADA was presented before the members of the Council.

"The Council, in its scope of work, will plan and propose initiatives and operational plans for the digital transformation of society, will participate in the preparation of a draft plan for the optimization of processes," reads the press release. The Council at Wednesday's session also adopted the Rules of Procedure.  Members of the National Council for Digital Transformation of Society include ministers of interior, defense, information society and administration, head of the Agency for Electronic Communications, as well as representatives from the Parliament, the economic chambers, banking sector, local self-government and the academic community.
