Athens, 4 January 2022 (dpa/MIA) - Coronavirus infections have hit a new record high in Greece with 50,126 new infections recorded, the health authorities reported on Tuesday. The figure was sharply up on the 40,560 posted on Monday and 21,657 a week ago. More than 70 per cent of the infections are attributed to the Omicron variant. Speaking on television on Tuesday, Health Minister Thanos Plevris said the health services in the country of some 11 million inhabitants were under severe pressure.
