Skopje, 8 January 2025 (MIA) - In 2024, in comparison with 2023, the Consumer Price Index increased by 3.5%, while the Retail Price Index increased by 3.8%, said the State Statistical Office on Wednesday.

While in December 2024, compared to December 2023, the Consumer Price Index increased by 4.4%, while the Retail Price Index increased by 4.3%.

The movement of the consumer price index in 2024 was different among individual consumption groups. An increase in the indices was observed in all groups: Restaurants and hotels by 9.9%, Alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics by 7.6%, Health by 5.3%, Miscellaneous goods and services by 5.1%, Recreation and culture by 4.9%, Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance by 3.8%, Clothing and footwear by 3.1%, Communications, Food and non-alcoholic beverages by 2.9%, Transport, Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels by 1.4% and Education by 0.2%.

The movement of the Retail Price Index in 2024 was different by various groups of products as well. An increase of the indices was registered in all groups: Agricultural products by 7.1%, Services by 5.0%, Beverages by 4.0%, Food industrial products by 3.5%, and Non-food industrial products and tobacco by 2.1%.

The increase of inflation in December 2024, compared to November is the result of the increase in the consumer prices in the following groups: Transport by 4.8%, Recreation and culture by 1.7%, Restaurants and hotels by 0.4%, Clothing and footwear by 0.2%, Miscellaneous goods and services by 0.1%.

Inflation measured through the Consumer Price Index in December 2024, compared to November 2024 was 0.3%.

In December 2024, compared to November 2024, a decrease in Consumer Price Index was registered in the following groups: Communications by 0.4%, Food and non-alcoholic beverages by 0.3%, Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance by 0.2%.

The Consumer Price Index in the groups: Alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics, Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, Health and Education remained at the same level as in the previous month.

The Retail Price Index in December 2024 compared to November 2024 was 1.2%.
