Complete reconstruction of the Emergency Surgical Center in Skopje

Complete reconstruction of the Emergency Surgical Center in Skopje
Skopje, 29 July 2022 (MIA) – The renovated Emergency Surgical Center at the University Clinic in Skopje was opened on Friday, after the Government allocated Mden 8 million (EUR 130,000) from the budget and donations for its rehabilitation. Deputy PM for good governance policies, Slavica Grkovska, Health Minister Bekim Sali and Minister of Interior Oliver Spasovski attended the opening event. “This will mean improved conditions for the treatment of patients which is very important to me as a health minister, but also as a patient. The fact that we have completely renovated 400 square meters of the facility is an indicator of the Clinic’s successful management, which is significantly improving treatment conditions, even during a pandemic, and thus changing the impression that patients get when they seek medical help at the Emergency Center. The areas that have been renovated are the reception area, the resuscitation room, the triage room, the surgery room, the aseptic room and auxiliary rooms,” said Minister Sali. University Clinic director Aleksandar Trajanovski said this is a complete reconstruction of the Emergency Surgical Center for the first time after 30 years and it covers an area of 400 square meters. “After the complete reconstruction of the Orthopedic Diseases Clinic this is yet another project at this clinic which will offer new quality services to the patients being treated here. The Emergency Center has a CT scanner and a radiography machine, enabling full diagnostics after the patients are admitted. The Emergency Surgery Center is the first health facility in the country offering this type of medical service. Every year, the clinic admits 35.000 patients from the entire country,” said Trajanovski. Deputy PM Grkovska said that investment in public health results in more motivated health workers and satisfied citizens as well. “Good management and strategic approach result in good and visible results. They create the conditions for quality services for citizens, which must be the highest priority of all officials. With this and all previous investments, a renewed, modern and above all highly professional clinic has been created, and it continues to develop in accordance with all global standards and in the best traditions of professionalism, knowledge and expertise. Through these investments, the Government affirms its determination to continue to invest in the health system, which will result in a better and longer life for every citizen,” said Grkovska. Certificates of appreciation were presented to UNHCR, the Red Cross, as well as to a private company for their support to the renovation of the Emergency Surgery Center. ad/ik/
