Coalition partners hold meeting at SDSM HQ

Skopje, 23 January 2023 (MIA) – A meeting of coalition partners is underway at the headquarters of the ruling SDSM, for talks on possible expansion of the coalition in the context of parliamentary majority for constitutional amendments.

Talks are led by SDSM Secretary General Mile Zechevikj, and participants include NSDP leader Goran Misovski, DOM leader Maja Morachanin and Democratic Union leader Pavle Trajanov.

Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski, who participated at Monday’s session of the Security Council at the President’s office, is not attending the meeting.

Ahead of the meeting, DOM leader Maja Morachanin said no talks have been held so far nor any specific information apart from recent media reports.

Dempocratic Union leader Pavle Trajanov said the party would support government reshuffle if Amendment 6 of the Constitution, on fair representation of all ethnic communities, is observed.

Earlier today sources from the coalition parties told MIA that Prime Minister and SDSM leader Dimitar Kovachevski will meet the leaders of SDSM’s coalition partners on Monday at 8pm.

In his statement to the press earlier on Monday, PM Kovachevski said that he held discussions with a part of the coalition partners and will continue today, “regarding the issues that are important to the work of the government, and of interest to the citizens.”
