CMC’s Angelov: Budinarci wildfire put out
Skopje, 10 August 2021 (MIA) – The wildfire that has been raging for several days over the village of Budinarci in Berovo municipality has been put out Tuesday afternoon, Crisis Management Center (CMC) Director Stojanche Angelov wrote on Facebook.
The burning forest fire that affected the area of municipalities Pehchevo, Delchevo and Berovo has been completely extinguished, Angelov said on Tuesday.
On his Facebook profile, Angelov said that there were no casualties among the local residents, firemen or member of other unit or institutions while tackling the fire, apart from firemen dispatched from Austria, who was injured and to whom he wished a speedy recovery.
He noted that some of the Austrian firefighting equipment, as well as our and Bulgarian firefighters will remain on guard on the site to prevent the fire from reigniting in certain places, especially considering the strong wind that started blowing a while ago.
"Many thanks to the teams of the Macedonian and Serbian helicopter units and Romanian planes, Macedonian, Austrian, Slovenian and Bulgarian firefighters, members of the National Forests and Forest Police, members of the Army and Police, as well as employees of the Protection and Rescue Directorate and Crisis Management Center and other institutions, who helped in putting out, probably, the largest forest fire in the country so far,” Angelov wrote on Facebook.
Angelov also expressed special gratitude to the local residents who, as he said, bravely and selflessly helped in firefighting efforts to save the villages.
