CMC: Slovenia extends request for assistance, Defense Minister says N.Macedonia ready to send 100 Army members

Skopje, 7 August 2023 (MIA) - The Crisis Management Center (CMC) said Monday that Slovenia has sent a request for assistance through the Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre (EADRCC) as NATO’s principal civil emergency response mechanism.

Upon consultations with the Army General Staff, Defense Minister Slavjanka Petrovska has informed us that North Macedonia is ready to send 100 Army members. The decision requires a Government decision and approval from the President and Supreme Commander, the CMC said in a press release.

The Ministry of Defense has told MIA that 100 Army members are available to provide help in Slovenia but the Government is set to make the final decision.

The same procedure is to be used for the provision of heavy machinery by the Protection and Rescue Directorate (PRD), after Slovenia extended a request through the Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC) within the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
