CMC: River water levels up, no flooding threat

Skopje, 11 September 2024 (MIA) - Rainfalls over the past 48 hours have resulted in a certain increase of the river water levels nationwide, especially in the country's west. Due to the prior drought and low water levels, there is no threat of flooding and this precipitation is more than welcome from the aspect of hydrology, the Crisis Management Center (CMC) said on Wednesday.

The National Hydrometeorological Service said today that Vardar river has seen increased water levels compared to the September average, as have rivers Pchinja, Babuna and Strumica.

Rain is expected to continue throughout Wednesday. A gradual stabilization is expected tomorrow, followed by new rain on Friday.
