CMC: Eight fires remain active, others partially localized
Skopje, 9 August 2021 (MIA) - The airplane of the Romanian Military Airforce has made two flights over the area of the municipality of Prilep near the villages Toplica, Rakle and Nikodin aimed at putting out the fire, which has been partially localized, but is still active in some places. Teams of the Army and Prilep Forest Services are working on the terrain as well, Marija Milkova, assistant manager of the Crisis Management Center (CMC) Operations and Coordination Sector told a news conference Monday afternoon. As she noted, by 4 pm, eight fires remain still active, and the rest are partially localized. The fire in the Delchevo region, village Razlovci-Nov Istevnik is under control, but it doesn’t mean it’s fully out because some places are still smoking. The Territorial Firefighting Unit crews are there, as well as foreign assistance, police and Army representatives, are monitoring the fire so that it doesn’t start back up again. The fire in the Budinarci village is still active. Employees from forest companies, EVN, locals, international teams from Slovenia, Austria, trade associations, 40 army soldiers and one army chopper are working on the terrain combating the blaze,” Milkova said. Another active fire is in Saraj – Skopje, between the villages Raovikj, Bukovikj and Laskarci and there are people from National Park Jasen, TFFU representatives and local population are on site to monitor the fire. The fire in the Petrovec village Divlje which was brought under control, but reignited at 1:30 pm. The fire is being monitored, there are representatives from Karadjica Forest Services, 30 soldiers and units of the Territorial Firefighting Brigade on site, Milkova said. She said that the fire, which broke out in the afternoon in the village of German in Rankovce municipality, was partially brough under control and a unit of the Territorial Firefighting Brigade and Kriva Palanka Forest Services was working on the ground. Regarding the speculations that there is a woman with children there, she said that they were rescued in time and are not endangered. The fire that started burning in Shtip, between villages Dragoevo and Selce has been put under control, but was reactivated and representatives from Territorial Firefighting Brigade from Shtip, police, Negotino municipality and locals are on the site, Milkova said, adding that other fires have been partially localized. She underlined that Monday afternoon, wildfires broke out in the Veles village of Kojnica, Krajnica and Izvor, where a low mixed forest is burning. There are 11 employees from Babuna Forest Services on the terrain and she added that she expects this fire to be localized by the end of the day. Another team of several firemen and three firefighting vehicles from Bulgaria have already arrived in the country that will be deployed to help in putting out wildfires. The Main HQ at the Crisis Management Center (CMC) is in session to discuss activities to be carried out on Tuesday involving wildfires in the country.
