Skopje, 23 July 2022 (MIA) — The forest fire in the mountainous area between the villages of Mitrashinci and Budinarci has been contained. Earlier this morning, firefighters managed to secure a control line completely around its perimeter. Although still burning and smoldering, it is not likely to spread, according to the Crisis Management Center. Meanwhile, firefighting efforts continue on the ground and from the air, with the aid of a police helicopter carrying water. The firefighters have built a pool of water near the fire, so the helicopter can fill the water bucket three times faster than by going to Lake Berovo, the CMC points out. In addition to firefighting aircraft, firefighters and volunteers from Berovo, Delchevo, Kochani, Pehchevo, Radovish, and Vinica were putting out the blazes on Friday. Over the last 24 hours, fire departments across the country reported extinguishing several wildfires, including a brush fire and a stubble field fire, burning about 6,000 square meters near Skopje. Some of the other fires included a wildfire near the village of Brajkovci, a forest fire near the village of Dedeli, a stubble field fire in the village of Crvivci, a landfill fire near Veles, and a brush fire near the village of Farish on the road to Pletvar. mr/
