Skopje, 16 August 2024 (MIA) – Thirty-five wildfires were reported Friday by 7 pm, 13 of which have been extinguished, five are under control, and 17 are still active.

"There are two active fires in the municipality of Makedonski Brod, near "Jasen" - Belica and near the village of Devich. Two more are reported in the municipality of Kichevo, near the village of Cer and the villages of Pateec - Kozichino. The fire on Galichica is active, moving in the direction of the villages of Leskoec and Stenje in the municipality of Resen, as well as in the Ohrid area toward the location Voitino," the Crisis Management Center (CMC) reported Friday evening.

Active fires are also reported in the municipalities of Dolneni, Novaci, Valandovo, Plasnica, Debar near the village of Gari, Chashka, Makedonska Kamenica, Vasilevo, and in the municipality of Saraj near the village of Kondovo. Fires are also active in Gevgelija, and two fires are reported in Struga, near the villages of Veleshta and Dolna Belica, as well as near Moroishta and Misleshevo.

The CMC has informed that the fires have been contained in the municipality of Makedonski Brod near Greshnica, in Demir Hisar on Ilinska-Plakenska Mountain near Virovo and Sloeshtica, as well as in Delchevo near the landfill.

Two fires have been contained in the municipality of Chashka, near the villages of Papradishte and Oreshe, as well as on Mount Mukos towards the village of Drenovci in the municipality of Prilep.

Thirteen fires have been extinguished, including two in Probishtip, as well as in the municipalities of Bitola, Cheshinovo-Obleshevo, Pehchevo, near Negrevo, in Resen near the villages of Bolno and Ilino, in Kavadarci near Vatasha in the area known as Fushani, and in Kumanovo near the Menkova Koliba site.

Fires have also been extinguished in Staro Nagorichane, near the village of Mlado Nagorichane, in the municipality of Zhelino, near the village of Chiflik in the municipality of Gostivar, and near the villages of Balindol and Negotino in the Radovish village of Podares, where a landfill was burning.
