CMC: 13 wildfires active, 8 contained, 27 extinguished

Skopje, 17 August 2024 (MIA) – The Crisis Management Center (CMC) said Saturday that a total of 48 wildfires broke out on Friday. Of these, 13 remain active, 8 are under control, and 27 have been successfully extinguished.
Fires are currently active in the municipality of Makedonski Brod, specifically in Jasen and in the weekend settlement of Belica, where a pine forest is burning. The fire on Galichica is spreading eastward towards the villages of Leskoec and Stenje in the Resen municipality, while in the Ohrid area, it is advancing westward towards the Voitino area and northward towards the mountain lodge.
In the municipality of Kichevo, two fires are currently active. One is near the village of Cer on Mount Luben, which has spread towards the villages of Brezovo and Zashle in the municipality of Demir Hisar. The second fire has affected pine and beech forests, spreading from the village of Pateec to the village of Kozhichino, and has extended towards the village of Dupjani.
Fires are reported in the municipalities of Plasnica and Makedonski Brod, specifically between the villages of Plasnica and Latovo, and in the village of Devich in the Vrteshka area, as well as in the village of Gari on Mount Stogovo in the Municipality of Debar and in the municipality of Chashka, particularly in the village of Mokreni.
The CMC has informed that the fires have been contained in the municipality of Makedonski Brod near Greshnica, in Demir Hisar on Ilinska-Plakenska Mountain near Virovo and Sloeshtica, as well as in Delchevo near the landfill.
Two fires have been contained in the municipality of Chashka, near the villages of Papradishte and Oreshe, as well as on Mount Mukos towards the village of Drenovci in the municipality of Prilep.
A total of 27 fires have been extinguished, the CMC said.
