Citizens to receive electronic or mobile citizenship certificates

Skopje, 16 May 2023 (MIA) - We are launching the process of the digital transformation of services for citizens in respect to issuing an electronic certificate of citizenship of the Republic of North Macedonia. The citizens of the Republic of North Macedonia will be able to receive electronic or mobile citizenship certificates, Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski said on Tuesday.
“Ministry of the Interior adopted a rulebook for amending and supplementing the rulebook on the manner of keeping records for the citizens of the Republic of North Macedonia and on the forms that are applied or issued. At the same time, work teams from the department of informatics and telecommunications and the department of civil affairs in cooperation with Ministry of Information Society and Administration, made it possible through the National e-Services Portal, citizens to apply via an e-mail address or smartphone. The application is submitted in a personal name and for one's minor child, and the service is available on the website www.uslugi.gov.mk, personal documents and documents, citizenship. The application can be submitted by a person who has the citizenship of the Republic of North Macedonia and is registered on the e-services portal, through the Single Login System (SEN), i.e. the National e-Services Portal, in accordance with the regulations in the field of electronic management and electronic services and in the field of electronic documents, electronic identification and confidential services," Spasovski said, adding that paper citizenship certificates will continue to be issued.
Minister of Information Society and Administration Azir Aliu said that they are here to announce digital services in which Ministry of Information Society and Administration, based on the program and the national strategy for digital transformation begins to promote the digital services that they have developed together with ministries and other institutions, where they offer services for citizens.
“The goal of the Ministry of Information Society and Administration is to digitize over 150 services by the end of 2023, which will be services available on the national portal www.uslugi.gov.mk,” Aliu said, adding that they believe that through digitization they will deliver better service to citizens.
