Skopje, 15 March 2024 (MIA) – The head of the State Sanitary and Health Inspectorate, Renata Mladenovska, said the Inspectorate would adopt a new decision on Friday permitting kindergartens to admit children who have received three doses of the DTaP vaccine against whooping cough (pertussis) starting from Monday.
Mladenovska said during the past week, the Health Inspectorate carried out hundreds of emergency inspections in kindergartens and concluded that the decision to ban partially vaccinated children is being respected.
In terms of the significantly higher percentage of vaccinated children in the rest of the country – 95 percent, compared to Skopje where 50 percent of children are not vaccinated, Mladenovska assessed that parents in the rest of the country are more responsible.
She said the Inspectorate would continue its inspections in the coming period.
The Inspectorate's decision after the Commission for Infectious Diseases issued a recommendation on Thursday for kindergartens to admit children vaccinated with three doses of the DTaP vaccine under the condition that they receive the fourth dose after six months.
