Chief Prosecutor Kocevski meets U.S. Ambassador Aggeler

Skopje, 7 March 2024 (MIA) – The situation in the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the challenges faced by the institution, mostly in terms of material resources and staffing, were the topics of discussion at Thursday’s meeting of Chief Prosecutor Ljupcho Kocevski and the Ambassador of the United States to North Macedonia, Angela Aggeler.

In a press release the Prosecutor’s Office said Kocevski voiced gratitude for the support provided by the United States, especially in terms of the establishment and equipping of investigative centers in the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Skopje and the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecuting Organized Crime and Corruption.

According to the Office, at the meeting Ambassador Aggeler said US support would continue on all levels for all individuals that work with integrity and are committed to providing the best services to the citizens, adding that since the establishment of the country’s strategic partnership with the United States, the US financial assistance for the overall system for the rule of law stands at around half a billion US dollars.

In the press release the Office said Ambassador Aggeler met with all prosecutors at the Public Prosecutor’s Office and was informed about ongoing activities related to the monitoring of any irregularities related to the coming election cycle.
