Chief Prosecutor Kocevski, EU Ambassador Geer discuss digitization and new case management system

Skopje, 29 February 2024 (MIA) - Remarks in the latest European Commission Progress Report and activities undertaken by the Public Prosecutor's Office (PPO) for realization of the recommendations were in the focus of a meeting of Chief Prosecutor Ljupcho Kocevski and European Union Ambassador David Geer on Thursday.

Prosecutor Kocevski presented the PPO's activities and priorities during his six-year term, the Office said in a press release.

Kocevski said digitization and the new case management system continue to pose a challenge, and options are already discussed through the "EU-Rule of Law" project.

Ambassador Geer expressed an understanding over the difficulties regarding the PPO's lack of financial resources and staff shortages, aspects that are noted in the EC Report, adding that the Union would continue to insist on ensuring all necessary requirements for continued PPO operations.

Interlocutors also discussed the effects of the latest Criminal Code amendments, which have resulted in the expiration of the statute of limitations in multiple cases, reads the press release.
