Skopje, 23 September 2023 (MIA) – Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani delivered a video message to Macedonians living in Albania, saying that the census allows them to freely express their ethnic, linguistic and religious affiliation.

"Regarding the upcoming population census in the Republic of Albania, I would like to address you Macedonians living in Albania. As you already know, from September 18 and for the next six weeks, a population census will be conducted, as the most significant statistical operation in the country. I am addressing you because I want you to be sure that this census allows you to freely express your ethnic, linguistic and religious affiliation,” he said.

According to Osmani, with this democratic benefit, Albania is recognized in the world for its multi-ethnic and multicultural society, something that, just like here, represents an invaluable authentic cultural heritage.

“These days, we are aware of various propaganda appeals to your decision without taking into account your feelings. You needn't worry about anything. Albania is a free country where everyone can freely express and cultivate their identity, without worrying about any consequences. By doing so, you will reaffirm your irreplaceable role in building bridges of friendship between the two countries.” Osmani said in a video message.
