Skopje, 27 July 2022 (MIA) - There are a total of 538,348 families in the country, including 62 percent who live in an urban area and 38 percent in a rural area. According to the family composition, of those 43 percent are married couples with at least one child under 25 that is living with them. Also, 31 percent are childless married couples, shows the fourth batch of data from the 2021 Census, released Wednesday by the State Statistical Office. Over 26,000 families (4.9%) are single-mother households with at least one child under 25. More than 9,000 families (1.7%) are single-father households with at least one child under 25. Nearly 58,000 families (over 10%) are married couples with the youngest child being 25 years old or older that is living with them. The number of individual households totals to 598,632 and the average number of household members is 3.1. According to the number of members in individual households, 468,336 (25.5%) live in four-member households and the number of single-person households is 103,237 (5.6%). A total of 531,987 apartments in the country (63.4%) are occupied, show 2021 Census data.
