CCC: Diaspora voting cost more than printing of all ballots

Skopje, 10 June 2024 (MIA) - For the purpose of administering this year'spresidential and parliamentary elections, the State Election Commission (SEC) concluded 22 public procurement contracts in the amount of Mden 213.625.656 (EUR 3.473.588), as of May 20, 2024. SEC tenders for joint presidential and parliamentary elections this year cost EUR 767.000 more than the sum of all tenders from when they were implemented individually in 2019 and 2020, according to an analysis by the Center for Civil Communications (CCC) published Monday.

According to CCC, research showed that the diaspora voting process cost more than the printing of ballots for all voters.

"SEC concluded 41 percent of the public procurement agreements for the elections through direct negotiations, without making an announcement frist. In the group of companies that traditionally receive SEC's tenders, three companies stand out. During previous parliamentary elections, the value of public procurement agreements in the country reaches a record level. This year's elections were foreseen in last year's purchases," the CCC adds. ssh/ba/
