Bytyqi-Lemaitre: Investment in research and development is investment in future growth

Skopje, 1 March 2023 (MIA) - Deputy PM for Economic Affairs Fatmir Bytyqi met Wednesday in Brussels with Marc Lemaitre, Director-General of the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation of the European Commission, discussing North Macedonia's steps to stimulate investments in research and development, which leads to economic development but also general progress of the society.
Deputy PM Bytyqi expressed satisfaction from the results of programme "Horizon Europe", in which North Macedonia has the status of an associate state, his Office said in a press release.
Bytyqi and Lemaitre also discussed the process of drafting a strategy on smart specialization, which is exceptionally important for North Macedonia's development and one that should give an answer regarding the country's competitive advantages and direction of its economic development.
In addition, the Deputy PM referred to the first administration digital assistant (ADA), which will soon be promoted and be available for the broad public, and one that Lemaitre labelled as a breakthrough in the digitization sphere within the public sector even in EU terms, reads the press release.
