Bytyqi: Government to propose law to correct officials' wages, funds to be reallocated for anti-crisis measures

Skopje, 17 October 2023 (MIA) - Deputy PM for Economic Affairs Fatmir Bytyqi has said the Government will propose Tuesday a law to correct wages of elected and appointed officials, with available funds to be reallocated in anti-crisis measures for the most vulnerable groups.

"A working group composed of four ministers is currently working on the anti-crisis measures. Tomorrow we will also present a law to correct wages of elected and appointed officials and thus free up more funds for anti-crisis measures for the most vulnerable groups, because this is crucial in a time when everyone needs to show solidarity," Deputy PM Bytyqi told TV24.

He adds that the budget reallocation will include a set of anti-crisis measures worth about EUR 70 million for the most vulnerable groups, set to be unveiled in the coming days.

Bytyqi says the foreign investments are on the rise, noting that the peak was delayed due to the covid-crisis but is now coming.

"Negotiations with Korean companies Hyundai and LG are finalizing so they bring a portion of their production here, whereas other companies such as Gerresheimer, Technical Textiles and Wik are going into the next cycle of investments," says Bytyqi.
