Bytyqi: EUR 57 million support for 630 companies that invested over EUR 340 million in period 2018-2022

Skopje, 9 August 2023 (MIA) - The partnership and inclusive approach in creating and implementing the Government's economic policies yields results. Since introducing the Law on financial support of investments, between 2018 and 2022, the Government has allocated about EUR 57 million in support for 630 companies that invested over EUR 340 million. The trust businesses have in institutions and our economic policies is increasing by the year and the number of contracts for financial support of companies if continuously growing, Deputy PM for Economic Affairs Fatmir Bytyqi said on Wednesday.

According to him, since the law on financial support of investments came into force in 2018, a total of 630 financial support agreements were signed as of 2022, and in 2023 they received a record 427 applications for new investment projects, of which 289 companies have been supported for their planned investment cycles worth EUR 366 million, which will create new competitive jobs.

"Now the portfolio of contracts for financial support of investments has increased to 919 contracts. This means that the Government, through stimulating and consistent policies and measures, successfully creates a business environment that is stable, predictable and favorable for companies. In 2018, 73 companies made investments worth around EUR 29 million, while in 2022, we have investments from 410 companies worth around EUR 101 million. Apart from making no distinction between foreign and domestic companies, the Government cooperates and continually supports companies in their investment cycles. In 2018, the paid support amounted to EUR 3.12 million, while in 2022 it increased to a record EUR 23 million," Bytyqi stressed. ssh/ik/
