Bytyqi: Digitalization enables easier, faster and transparent access to public services

Skopje, 16 October 2023 (MIA) - Deputy PM for Economic Affairs Fatmir Bytiqi met on Monday with officials of the Atlantic Council’s Europe Center.

Deputy PM Bytyqi and Lisa Homel, assistant director of the Atlantic Council's Europe Center as well as Rachel Rizzo, part of the Digital Western Balkans project, discussed the potential of digital transformation in the countries of the Western Balkans as well as the current status of digitalization in the Republic of North Macedonia by identifying key challenges and opportunities for digitization in both the private and public sectors, the government said in a press release.

Bytyqi reaffirmed his personal and government’s commitment for full digitization of services in public institutions, which will be of great importance for our citizens and will mean easier and faster access to the public services.

“Full digitalization of services also means greater availability for all our citizens, but mostly for those who are included in the marginalized groups in society, which is one of the steps we are taking to eradicate poverty,” Bytyqi noted.

He briefed the interlocutors on the first AI-based public sector digital assistant ADA, which facilitated access to state support for all companies in North Macedonia, as well as for all foreign companies that want to invest in our country.

According to Bytyqi, this is a clear signal of government's commitment to full transparency of the processes related to the investment flows both domestic and foreign companies in North Macedonia

As part of the Digital Western Balkans project, the interlocutors from the Atlantic Council’s Europe Center will create a report on the digitalization of the Western Balkans, which will then be the basis for future proposals for regional cooperation in the business sector with platforms supported by public institutions in the region as well as presenting "good policies" that are already showing effective results, reads the press release.
