Skopje, 3 October 2023 (MIA) - Deputy PM for Economic Affairs Fatmir Bytyqi and Minister of Economy Kreshnik Bekteshi met with Nandita Parshad, Managing Director of the Sustainable Infrastructure Group at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), in London on Tuesday.

The main topics discussed at the meeting, also attended by NOMA Gas director Bajram Rexhepi, were the activities and projects that are being implemented with EBRD support, including future plans that can be supported through various investment projects for implementing the green agenda, the Government said in a press release.

Interlocutors discussed the successful cooperation between North Macedonia and EBRD, as a one of the biggest supporters of infrastructure projects in the country.

Both sides agreed that projects will continue to be realized without interruption, regardless of the crisis caused by the war in Ukraine, especially when it comes to energy, transport, environment projects that are important for citizens and the country.

Deputy PM Bytyqi and Minister Bekteshi expressed their gratitude for EBRD's support and discussed the possibility for progress and the need for technical support and expertise.

Bytyqi said the Government is actively working on implementing infrastructure projects in order to accelerate the growth of the domestic economy and improve citizens’ financial situation, while Bekteshi emphasized that increasing North Macedonia's energy independence is of key importance, in addition to a quicker energy transition, and thanked for the support EBRD offers during this process, primarily in the construction of the interconnector with Greece.

Bytyqi and Bekteshi informed Parshad of the future plans for developing energy infrastructure in the country, especially projects that are of special importance for regional energy connectivity, reads the press release. ssh/ik/
