Skopje, 6 October 2023 (MIA) – Deputy PM for Economic Affairs Fatmir Bytyqi met with UNFPA’s Regional Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Florence Bauer, on Friday in Skopje.

They shared views on opportunities to further promotion of the partnership and cooperation between North Macedonia and UNFPA mainly in strengthening demographic resilience, gender issues, youth and inequalities, Bytyqi’s office said in a press release.

“Deputy PM Bytyqi said that the strategic partnership, based on knowledge sharing and exchange of expertise, results in UNFPA support and contribution in the preparation of the National Development Strategy, especially in the part of its alignment with the Demographic Strategy. They assessed that the National Development Strategy is essential for the development and prospects of the state, because solid foundations for development of society can be laid only through a strategic and long-term approach,” reads the press release.

They also exchanged opinions on the population dynamics, the need for constant development and promotion of human capital, how to achieve sustainability in development, as well as on the major aspects that should be covered in the creation of policies for the population.
