Bulgarian party DPS files motion for approval of draft-negotiating framework of North Macedonia and Albania
Skopje, 22 June 2022 (MIA) – Bulgarian party Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) has filed a motion to the National Assembly for approval of a draft-negotiating framework on the European Union accession of North Macedonia and Albania, proposed by the French Presidency, said party leader Mustafa Karadayi after the country’s government lost the no-confidence vote on Wednesday. “Why have we done this now – because these ministers and this Cabinet have not done anything in this regard. We can say they tried to prevent the process by saying one thing in Brussels and another in Bulgaria, which is a lie” said Karadayi. Desislava Atanasova, whip of opposition GERB, said they are prepared to approve the negotiating framework that will guarantee the protection of Bulgarian national interests. She urged all parties to support the initiative and called on Prime Minister Kiril Petkov and the government to urgently approve the bilateral protocol. Earlier, 123 out of 239 MPs voted against the government of PM Petkov. The no-confidence vote was supported by deputies of GERB, There is Such a People, DPS and Revival, while 116 MPs of the ruling We Continue the Change, Bulgarian Socialist Party and Democratic Bulgaria were against.
