Bulgarian deputy minister: Referendum initiative won't hinder Skopje in meeting obligations
Skopje, 14 September 2022 (MIA) - Bulgaria's Deputy Foreign Minister Kostadin Kodzhabashev has said the referendum initiative in North Macedonia against the Treaty with Bulgaria will not hamper Skopje in meeting the obligations because Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi had dismissed the initiative as being unconstitutional. "From this point of view, we don't believe the issue will remain topical because the political parties Levica and VMRO-DPMNE for now are only hindering this decision in the public space, but from a legal point of view, it is quite unwavering," Kodzhabashev stated as cited by Bulgaria's BNR. The Bulgarian Foreign Ministry said that on September 12, the members of the Bulgarian team of the joint commission on historical issues presented the results of the Commission's work in the field of education before the education and foreign ministries. The Ministry said that preparations to implement the agreements have been launched, reported BNR.
