Sofia, 23 February 2023 (MIA) – The Bulgarian government adopted a decision instructing the regional administrator of Blagoevgrad to initiate the procedure for design and construction of the Strumyani - Berovo border crossing.

According to news.bg, the construction of the border crossing connecting Berovo and Bulgarian municipality Strumyani is a strategic project within Bulgaria-North Macedonia cross-border cooperation programme for the 2021-2027 period.

According to the government’s decision, the design and construction of the new checkpoint on the Bulgarian side has been assigned to Blagoevgrad regional administrator Stoyan Hristov.

Based on a decision of the Bulgarian government at the end of December last year, the budget intended for the construction of Strumyani - Berovo border crossing was increased from EUR 20,000 to EUR 111,000.
