Skopje, 15 November 2021 (MIA) – Vlado Buchkovski, the Government’s Special Envoy for Bulgaria, says a common ground with a Bulgarian government potentially led by Kiril Petkov and Asen Vasilev will be found swiftly. “For the sake of truth, the Macedonian side has been pushing the approach they are now promoting from the moment I became the Government’s Special Envoy. I inherited the already drafted roadmap that we aligned and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been active in the efforts to be more pragmatic and more productive. Petkov says this is a working process and doesn’t know how long it would take the working groups to harmonize, but I know that we already have a document in place that can respond to these requirements and believe that we would swiftly find common ground,” Buchkovski told Telma TV. According to him, the key is whether this can be achieved by December 14, while adding there are encouraging signals over a new strategy on the part of Bulgaria. “Bulgarian President Rumen Radev said today he would schedule the constitutive session of the parliament as soon as possible, and the earliest date for this is 24-25 November. The official results of the elections will be available on November 21 and their Constitution allows for this to take place within a month. However, they are also in a hurry because they have not had a political government for a while and want to have a political government in place so that the budget is passed. The covid-crisis is also a concern there,” says Buchkovski.
