Book launch for "The Macedonian Identity and the Macedonian Question" at Museum of Macedonian Struggle

Skopje, 7 March 2024 (MIA) — Тhe Museum of the Macedonian Struggle will host a book launch for the posthumously published "The Macedonian Identity and the Macedonian Question from Antiquity to 1912" by the father-son author duo, both university professors and military historians, Vanche Stojchev (1951-2009) and Aleksandar Stojchev (1975-2021).

 

The book editors Nade Proeva and Todor Chepreganov will speak at the book launch, which will also include a performance by opera singer Boris Trajanov.

 

This is the second posthumously published book by Vanche Stojchev. The first was "The Bucharest Peace Treaty and the Partition of Macedonia in 1913," published in 2011, also co-authored with Aleksandar Stojchev.

 

Vanche Stojchev founded the Ministry of Defense's Military Museum in 2006. He wrote many papers on military and diplomatic history topics. In 1997, as a member of a military delegation of the Ministry of Defense visiting the Military Museum of the Turkish Armed Forces in Istanbul, he unveiled the greatest discovery in the country's military history, the original Cherry Cannon used in the Ilinden Uprising in defense of the Krushevo Republic in August 1903.

 

Aleksandar Stojchev, from 2006 until his death from Covid in 2021, headed the military history office at the Ministry of Defense's Military Museum. He also taught Military History at the General Mihailo Apostolski Military Academy, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University, and Goce Delchev University. He authored several books and television documentaries on military history. mr/
