Bojmacaliev: No major disruptions or incidents on Election Day

Kumanovo, 24 April 2024 (MIA) - Additional Deputy Interior Minister, Mitko Bojmacaliev, said Wednesday in Kumanovo that no major disruptions or incidents have been observed so far in the voting process.

Speaking to reporters, Bojmacaliev stressed that the Interior Ministry is taking all necessary actions, and citizens are freely expressing their right to vote. He also expressed hope that by the end of the day the trend of free and democratic elections will be maintained, and that if certain incidents or disruptions do appear, the police will act and remove the obstacles so that voters can vote freely.

“On the entire territory of North Macedonia there was one reported incident of a person in Kumanovo taking a photo of the ballot, and the on-duty public prosecutor is acting on the charges. A case of organized transfer of voters has also been reported in Kumanovo, but the police are acting in accordance with the public prosecutor. The State Election Commission informed that not all polling stations opened on time, that the issue with biometric voter registration is being resolved and voting is back on track. I hope that the Election Day will end as it began with citizens voting in free and democratic elections," Bojmacaliev stressed.

After casting his vote, he add that recently he visited all sectors and departments at the Interior Ministry.

"We discussed possible issues that must be resolved quickly so that we can have a peaceful and safe Election Day. We have been continuously doing this since 2017," Bojmacaliev said. ssh/
