Bojmacaliev and Neshikj: Macedonian citizens allowed to travel to Bosnia and Herzegovina with ID cards

Skopje, 27 February 2024 (MIA) – Additional Deputy Minister of Interior Mitko Bojmacaliev spoke over the phone on Tuesday with the Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nenad Neshikj regarding the approval for citizens of the Republic of North Macedonia to be able to travel to Bosnia and Herzegovina with ID cards, the Ministry of Interior Affairs said.

Bojmacaliev and Neshikj discussed the possibility for Macedonian citizens to travel to Bosnia and Herzegovina using their ID cards with the country’s old name, in accordance with the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina on travel requirements for citizens of both countries, signed in 2018.

“Bojmacaliev highlighted the importance of bridging connections with neighboring countries and stressed that this opportunity signifies the enhanced cooperation and improved relations between North Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina in the past period. The same practice has already been established with the Republic of Serbia, Albania and Kosovo, where entry is allowed with an ID card bearing the country’s old name. Bojmacaliev underscored that the Interior Ministry is ready to take all necessary measures to ensure that citizens can fully exercise their rights guaranteed by the Constitution and the law,” reads the press release.
