Bochvarski: We have invested EUR 1.1 million in improving Veles road infrastructure

Skopje, 8 April 2024 (MIA) — Investments in infrastructure are of key importance for every municipality's economic growth, development, and living conditions, Minister of Transport and Communications Blagoj Bochvarski said during his working visit to Veles on Monday.

According to a Ministry of Transport and Communications press release, Minister Bochvarski was in Veles to inspect the rehabilitation of March 8 Street, which was surfaced earlier in the day.

Bochvarski said his visit to Veles was aimed at showing a strong commitment to providing better living conditions for citizens through improving local infrastructure.

"So far in Veles, we have reconstructed Andon Shurkov, Lazo Osmakov, Orce Martinov and Zhivko Firfov streets and a section of Blagoj Gjorev St., investing EUR 572,000," Bochvarski said.

"In the second phase, we are reconstructing March 8 St., which is about to be completed. Next, we will continue by reconstructing Louis Pasteur St. and Ljubljanska St., investing a total of EUR 509,000.

"The government, through the Ministry of Transport and Communications, continues to strongly support local governments, providing them with non-refundable financing for a large number of road infrastructure network projects that bring significant benefits to all citizens."

The Ministry of Transport and Communications has directly invested EUR 70 million in municipalities nationwide, which was used to reconstruct over 180 local streets and roads in over 60 municipalities throughout the country, the release says. mr/
