Bochvarski: Transport and Communications Ministry just link in urban plans adoption chain, municipalities make final decisions
Skopje, 20 July 2021 (MIA) – The expert commission within the Ministry of Transport and Communications has voiced its opinion, but at the end of the day the final decision whether the urban plan will be suspended or not is to be made by the Council of Centar Municipality, Minister of Transport and Communications Blagoj Bochvarski said on Tuesday regarding the issue over the space across Hotel Holiday Inn, located in the city center.
He told Kanal 5 TV that the Transport and Communications Ministry is just a link in the urban plans adoption chain. Detailed urban plans are owned by municipalities, while general ones by cities.
“With the new law, we’ve allowed municipalities to request a suspension of part or the whole plan if it doesn’t align with public interest,” Bochvarski said.
The Municipality of Centar, he added, submitted 13 suspension requests regarding some 20 urban plans, which is over half of all detailed urban plans on its territory.
“The Ministry set up an expert commission and held talks with Centar Municipality. We voiced our opinion, but it’s up to the Municipality of Centar and its Council to make the final decision,” the Minister noted.
