Bochvarski: Meeting with Sinohydro to take place if requested, decision on Kichevo-Ohrid motorway to be based on expert analysis

Negotino, 8 November 2023 (MIA) - If representatives of the Chinese company Sinohydro request a meeting, of course it will take place. Meetings are held on a technical level. It is important that the company still has a deadline for implementation and by December 31 they have both a deadline and a work front to pursue, Minister of Transport and Communications Blagoj Bochvarski said on Wednesday.

Minister Bochvarski told reporters during a visit to Negotino that Sinohydro has been in coordinated communication with the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the Public Enterprise for State Roads and all subcontractors in order to resolve and settle all issues that have occurred during the construction.

According to him, the best political decision for completing the motorway construction can be reached without political pressure, but with expert analysis.

Support from the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) expert on the Kichevo-Ohrid motorway, Bochvarski added, will set the direction the country should take to complete the project. Public Enterprise for State Roads experts will also be involved in finding the best possible solution for landslides and slopes, which are a real and major issue on the Kichevo-Ohrid motorway.

"This means that after experts determine the best course of action, without political pressure, but based on expert analysis, we will reach the best political decision for the completion of the highway that will also be made safe and reliable for citizens to commute," Bochvarski said. ssh/nn/
