Blagoevgrad-based club "Nikola Vapcarov" to appeal decision to reject registration of namesake association
- Macedonian culture club "Nikola Vapcarov" in Blagoevgrad has said its registration for establishment of the namesake association has been rejected by the city administration.
Skopje, 12 February 2023 (MIA) - Macedonian culture club "Nikola Vapcarov" in Blagoevgrad has said its registration for establishment of the namesake association has been rejected by the city administration.
"We will appeal this decision before the court," says Atanas Maznov in a written statement to the media, BTA reports.
Club "Nikola Vapcarov" opened at a private initiative by the end of last October. The club's windows were shaterred recently and four were detained regarding the incident.
The declared goals of the association are cultural communication among nations and countries in the Balkans, peace and good-neighborliness, as well as support to universal human rights, including the ones of minorities.
"We received a decision that rejects the association's registration, which we believe to be unprincipled. The rejection quotes only Article 12, Paragraph 2 of the Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria that associations of citizens cannot set political goals and carry out political activities, which we, as seen in the goals above, have taken into account, explicitly saying in our statute that the association will not carry out any political activities," reads the statement.
