Skopje, 16 July 2024 (MIA) — The Bitola brushfire has been partially contained, with firefighters preventing it from spreading toward the village of Rashtani, Bitola Fire Department deputy chief Goran Dimkoski told MIA.

"The fire is partially under control. There is a site beyond our control as it is in an inaccessible terrain," he said. 

"There is no danger to houses or weekend settlements. No property or people are at risk. We have prevented that. If we had not, the fire would have spread toward the village of Rashtani," Dimkoski said.

Five Air Tractor aircraft and one Canadair are also involved in putting out the fire as are 35 firefighters and dozens of volunteers. mr/
