Skopje, 31 May 2024 (MIA) - The number of live births recorded in the first quarter of 2024 amounted to 3632, which is a drop of 0.7% compared to Q1 2023. The number of deaths in the first quarter of 2024 decreased by 0.6% compared to the same quarter of 2023 and it amounted to 5199, shows data published by the State Statistical Office on Friday.  

The natural population change is negative and amounts to -1567 persons, representing the difference by which the number of live births is smaller than the number of deaths.

The number of marriages registered in this quarter of the year was 2488, an increase of 3.8% compared to the same quarter of 2023.

In this quarter, there were also 597 divorces.
