Skopje, 28 February 2024 (MIA) – The number of live births recorded in the fourth quarter of 2023 was 4.185, a decrease of 4.5 percent compared to the same quarter of the previous year, shows data published by the State Statistical Office on Wednesday.

The number of deaths in the fourth quarter was 5.028, which is 1.5 percent less compared to the same period of 2022.

The natural population change is negative - 843 persons, representing the difference by which the number of live births is smaller than the number of deaths.

The number of marriages registered in this quarter of the year was 2.824, an increase of 1.6 percent compared to the same quarter of 2022.

In this quarter, there were 599 divorces.
