Besimi: No new taxes in 2023 budget, €250 million to tackle crisis
Skopje, 4 November 2022 (MIA) - The salaries in the 2023 budget are defined according to the possibilities, the increases in the sectors made this year are calculated, and there will be no reduction in any of the workers' rights, Finance Minister Fatmir Besimi told TV 24 late on Friday. “If the average salary gives a ten percent increase next year, it means that from March the minimum wage will increase by ten percent. And the civil servants, where minimum salary is entered as the basis, will have a linear increase in salaries,” Besimi said. According to him, no new taxes are projected, but it is possible that part of the tax exemptions will stop. When asked in which segments of the new budget savings are planned, Besimi explained that it primarily refers to unproductive expenses – furniture, vehicles and travel expenses, but there will be no increase in administration. Besimi appealed to saving electricity, because, he said, is the main, best and fastest response in this period of crisis. He added, €250 million has been allocated to tackle the crisis next year. “The existing measures will continue, especially for the most vulnerable groups. In the first half of the year, the subsidized VAT and the subsidized price from the ESM will continue, with a certain increase in prices, and there will be various measures for the targeted and vulnerable groups,” Besimi noted.
