Skopje, 20 October 2023 (MIA) - Finance Minister Fatmir Besimi said a sustainable solution is being looked into to correct wages of officials, which were increased by 78 percent by a decision of the Constitutional Court. 

Besimi told Sitel TV that the Government's intention even at that time was that the provision from the Law on Officials’ Wages and Compensation should not be abolished.

"The Government reacted even before the decision was made, because according to procedure the Constitutional Court notifies the Government. The government gave the opinion that it should not be abolished," said Besimi. 

Commenting on the World Bank's latest forecasts, according to which the Macedonian economy will see the lowest growth, Besimi said that the country has the most open economy in the region, and its largest trading partner is Germany, which is in recession, so all that has an effect on the economy.
