Skopje, 11 September 2023 (MIA) - The Government is fully committed to realizing reforms that will pave the way to faster and full integration into the European Union. The negotiations process is open, as well as the opportunity for its acceleration. Screening as an initial phase is already underway, a draft report for the first cluster has been made, among other things, which prove that reforms are being implemented to improve budget revenues and realize expenditures, and improve fiscal discipline, heard a meeting between Finance Minister Fatmir Besimi and Gert Jan Koopman, Director General of the European Commission’s Directorate General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations in Brussels on Monday.

"The commitment to implementing reforms has one common element, which is to bring Europe to the homes of all citizens. Reforms are defined through all processes implemented on a national level together with our partners from EU, standing firm and in continuity with our European commitment. The support comes in many different forms, and progress on that path means advancing our cooperation and increasing the availability of financial resources for the realization of the established reforms," Besimi said.

Interlocutors emphasized that a mutual connection exists between implementing reforms and financial support for the candidate countries when joining the Union, i.e. implementing reforms means getting closer to the EU and access to many new funds. Currently, funds from the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA) III 2021-2027 are available to the candidate countries or potential candidates in the total amount of EUR 14.2 billion, while EUR 392 billion are available to the member counties for that period. That is only one part of the benefits for the quick achievement of this European process.

The energy crisis and its solutions were also discussed. Minister Besimi emphasized all the measures taken since the beginning of the Covid 19 crisis and the current energy and price crisis, expressing gratitude for EU's engagement so far in helping deal with the crisis in North Macedonia.

Additionally, interlocutors pointed out that the transfer of EUR 50 million within the first tranche of the announced micro-financial support from the EU to North Macedonia is expected to be delivered by the end of 2023. EU's decision to grant micro-financial support to the country in the amount of EUR 100 million was made during the summer. ssh/ik/

На средбата беше истакнато дека постои меѓусебна поврзаност на спроведувањето на реформите и финансиската поддршка за земјите кандидати за влез во Унијата, односно дека спроведувањето на реформите ќе значи доближување до ЕУ и пристап до повеќе нови фондови. Во моментов на земјите-кандидати или потенцијални кандидати се достапни средства од претпристапните фондови – ИПА. ИПА III за периодот 2021 – 2027 година е во вкупен износ од 14,2 милијарди евра, додека преку фондовите што ги користат земјите-членки за тој период се достапни 392 милијарди евра. И тоа претставува само еден дел од придобивките од побрзото заокружување на овој европскиот процес. 

Стана збор и за енергетската криза и мерките што се преземаат за справување со неа. Министерот посочи на пакетите мерки што досега се преземени од почеток на ковид-кризата и моменталната енергетска и ценовна криза, при тоа изрази благодарност за досегашниот ангажман на ЕУ да помогне во справувањето со кризата во земјата.

Во тој контекст беше посочено дека до крајот на годината се очекува исплата на првата транша од најавената макрофинансиска поддршка од ЕУ за нашата држава во износ од 50 милиони евра. Одлуката за доделување на макрофинансиска поддршка на земјава од страна на ЕУ во вкупен износ од 100 милиони евра беше донесена во текот на летото и се очекува постапката за повлекување на првата транша да заврши до крајот на годината.вј/са/
