Besa’s Hoxha: Ruling majority is stable, all coalition partners against early polls
Skopje, 1 November 2021 (MIA) – All government coalition partners are against the organization of another early parliamentary elections, Besa secretary general Arijanit Hoxha said Monday after PM Zoran Zaev held a coordination meeting with the leaders of the junior coalition parties following his resignation.
“At the meeting, we once again demonstrated that the majority is stable and that the ruling majority should resume being in power. We all agreed that any processes that might lead to early parliamentary elections could be very problematic and difficult for the economic situation as well as the social situation and the security,” he told reporters after the meeting.
Hoxha mentioned that the incumbent government was formed in 2020, when it pledged its commitment to the EU integration process.
“We are in a delicate process, which is why we need to voice our joint position that the ruling majority has to be allowed to continue, because the objective of this government when it was formed was to accelerate the EU integration process, which is key,” he stated.
Commenting on Zaev’s resignation as PM, Hoxha said his party didn’t agree with it, adding: “It is a personal move for which the premier decides on his own.”
