Besa Trans bus was not licensed to carry passengers, company’s license to work revoked
Skopje, 24 November 2021 (MIA) — The Besa Trans coach with SK-0284-BA license plates that crashed on the Struma highway in Bulgaria on Tuesday, killing 45 Macedonian citizens and injuring seven, was not licensed for international or domestic passenger transport, so the Ministry of Transport and Communications has revoked the bus carrier’s transportation license, according to an official press release.
There was no record of the vehicle in the database of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the release says.
Besa Trans BTB had four other buses that were licensed to carry passengers, it adds.
"Pursuant to Article 12 of the Law on Road Transport, due to the failings identified by the Ministry of Transport and Communications and to prevent any other wrongdoing by the company, Besa Trans BTB’s transportation license has been revoked," the Ministry of Transport and Communications writes.
Additionally, it notes, the government at its last session instructed the State Transport Inspectorate to conduct a special inspection of the bus carrier. mr/
