Besa Movement leader Bilall Kasami’s statement after voting

Tetovo, 24 April 2024 (MIA) - Besa Movement leader Bilall Kasami voted Wednesday at a polling station in Tetovo.

“It’s a sunny, beautiful day today, may it be a beautiful day for all citizens of the Republic of North Macedonia, because today we will elect the head of the country who will lead us in the coming period and we hope that this will be the best and most beautiful period for this country because we finally need to become an EU member state. It is high time for us to react and become an EU member state, because, as we can see, the citizens are leaving the country on a daily basis. In order to avoid becoming an empty state, we need to work together, as political factors, as stakeholders in this society, to integrate this country. That’s why as a coalition we will work in the coming period to integrate the country within EU because this is one of the main points in our election manifesto. I hope this will be a commitment of all stakeholders, of all political factors, so that we can celebrate in the end. I hope the best candidate wins,” Kasami said.

Kasami reiterated the statements of Besa Movement representatives accusing the Tetovo police of political pressure.

“Unfortunately, there are certain structures in the Tetovo police, led by the chief of the police, who don’t wish for this to be a peaceful and good, democratic process. They didn’t accept coordination of activities with the advisor sent by the Interior Ministry, it seems they are hiding something. They are trying to stage some scenarios, but the citizens won’t permit that,” Kasami said.
