Berlusconi leaves hospital after Covid-related check-ups
Berlin, 27 August 2021 (dpa/MIA) - Former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi left hospital on Friday after a day of check-ups almost a year after he was infected with the coronavirus.
The 84-year-old had to be admitted to the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan on Thursday, a spokesperson for his Forza Italia party confirmed.
On Friday, however, the politician was discharged from the hospital. The necessary detailed examinations and checks had been completed, Italian media reported.
Berlusconi had contracted the coronavirus in September last year. Since then, the leader of the conservative party, which is part of the current government under Prime Minister Mario Draghi, has been repeatedly hospitalized for examinations because of the consequences.
Berlusconi was Italian prime minister a total of four times between 1994 and 2011.
