Skopje, 6 December 2023 (MIA) - French Ambassador Cyrille Baumgartner told late Wednesday an event marking the 30th anniversary of France-North Macedonia diplomatic ties that EU is the path that needs to be taken.

"The path that needs to be taken is the one leading to this Union, where we are waiting for you, hoping and wishing to see you," said Ambassador Baumgartner in Macedonian.

He said the French proposal was not perfect but "the best one possible".

"As any compromise, this proposal is not perfect. But it is the best one possible. It respects the Macedonian identity, it reopens the country's European prospects. An Intergovernmental Conference was held in July 2022 after 15 years of waiting," added Baumgartner.
