Skopje, 27 February 2023 (MIA) – The baking industry said Monday it would stop producing bread if the Government adopts a measure freezing the price of bread to Mden 33.

“If the Government adopts the measure limiting the price of bread, there will be no bread on the market the following day,” said Goran Malishikj, the president of the Group of Bakery and Mill Industry following a meeting at the Economic Chamber of North Macedonia.

Minister of Economy Kreshnik Bekteshi said on Saturday that the price of bread will be frozen as of March 1, and won’t exceed Mden 33. The measure was proposed by the Ministry of Economy after analyses showed that a large part of the companies using subsidized electricity from ESM Sales have not reduced the prices of basic food products.ad/sk/
