Skopje, 6 January 2025 (MIA) - The traditionally held Christmas Eve (Badnik) processions of carolers are taking place in 80 cities and towns across the country on Tuesday, as well as with the Macedonian diaspora in Slovenia, Italy, Austria, France and the United States.
Organized by the "Badnikovi Povorki" association for the 16th time this year, the Badnik processions of carolers are uniting thousands of children, families, and communities in the spirit of light, joy, and togetherness.

The central celebration is held in Skopje, with children from all Skopje municipalities gathering at the Museum of the City Of Skopje at 11:30 am to form a Badnik procession. Also, gold-colored stars symbolizing the Star of Bethlehem will be given away to all children.
The participants in the longest procession will then walk along the Macedonia street to Macedonia Square, where a nativity scene portraying the birth of Christ has already been put.

The celebration at the Macedonia Square will continue with a carolling concert featuring more than 40 musicians, actors, singers and members of the "Golden Nightingale" children's choir. The concert is developed under the artistic guidance of Vlado Dojchinoski with dramaturgy by Biljana Krajchevska.

As is tradition, early on Tuesday, groups of carolers visit President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova, the Archbishop of Ohrid and Macedonia HH Stefan, as well as Skopje Mayor Orce Gjorgjievski.
The "Badnikovi Povorki" association invites all citizens, families and children to join the 2026 Badnik processions, noting that no prior registration is required.
The event is supported by the Ministry of Culture and the City of Skopje.
